Simon Says Stamp & CAS(E) this Sketch {Happy Place}

More stamping and watercolouring. I want to practice and tonight I decided to play along with the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch. Loved the clean lines! I went to work and created a tag using some Altenew-Striped Florals and Verve-Happy Place stamps.

Watercolouring {Yippee!}

Happy Friday eve! I am so excited because I tried something different! I have dabbled before but usually I do not like what I create. Usually I stick to my style but I love all of the watercoloured cards and floral images I have been seeing. I needed to give it a whirl! I have all the product to make this style of card and so the WPLUS9-Throwback Thursday challenge was the perfect way to be inspired...especially the watercoloured backgrounds of Maureen's cards. This is my first real attempt at this technique but I hope to explore some more. You probably have tried this before but I thought I would share my steps.

  1. I stamped my image in Versamark ink onto watercolour paper.
  2. Then I heat set it with white embossing powder.
  3. Then I got the paper wet with my water pen...in the areas I wanted to add ink.
  4. Then I used some distress inks and allowed the ink to flow into those wet areas.
  5. Then I heat dried my panel with my heat gun.
Keeping the design simple, I added a strip of vellum washi tape across the card base and matted the image with black paper. I stamped the sentiment in black ink. I added some twine at the bottom to tie in the watercolour paper tone.

I am playing along with the following challenges:

Freshly Made Sketches #184 & The Card Concept #34 {Mother's Day Blessings}

Today I am excited to be designing with the team at Freshly Made Sketches and at The Card ConceptThe sketch and the inspiration is simply awesome this week! I know you will enjoy playing along. I am also using the "Polka Dot" Challenge at The Challenge.

I used one of the new stamp sets I recently purchased. It is called "Botanical Blooms" by WPlus9. This is one of the first stamp sets I have purchased of theirs. I mixed it up with a Verve sentiment from the stamp set called "On Occasion". I love the clean look of the font. I was inspired by the Card Concept photo to use flowers on my card and a tag!

Altenew Inspiration Challenge {Cheers}

I am sharing a card I made for the Altenew April Inspiration Challenge. The inspiration photo is of The Forbidden City, Beijing, China. Awesome! Was I inspired. I immediately got out my new stamp set from Altenew called Striped Florals. I love this sweet set!

I hope you can see the sweet vellum washi tape I used at the bottom of my card. The xo's seemed to work with my theme and I wanted some more gold onto the card. I was also trying to mimic the rows of detail on the building below.

April Challenge: From Places Abroad - China

Keeping my design simple. I stamped the large leaf stamp in Navy and Rich Red. Then I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder.

The colours at Colour Me are really pretty this week! I love the unusual mixture and I wanted to try them out together! I also loved the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch! Together, I made a card for my stash!

This stamp set is called Kinda Eclectic and it was one that I HAD to have from Stampin' Up! So I dug it out, inspired to play along at CAS(E) this Sketch!

Viva la Verve {Sunshine & Laughter}

I am supposed to be staying overnight with my sister and my new nephew tonight but the highway to her home was closed and so I had to turn around and come home! So what better to do than stamp? I couldn't wait to play along with the Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge and inked up a pretty sentiment set. I also used the colour challenge colours at The Color Throwdown. Who can resist Yellow, Black and White! I used Verve's Brighter Days stamp set. Love the sentiments in this set!

A dear childhood friend is going through a tough time. I love her so much, like a sister. So I went to work and made this card for her.

Simon Says Stamp {CAS Altenew}

Today I am sharing a simple card set I made using Altenew's Striped Floral Stamp Set and the Avery Elle Thanks a Bunch set for the senitments. I LOVE how it stamped and it was fun creating some simple cards for my stash. I ordered the stamp set from Butterfly Reflections Ink. Great store and the stamps got here in a WEEK! I was blown away by the customer service.

I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the images with my Copic markers. I tried to keep each design clean and simple.

I am entering these cards into the following challenge:
