CAS(E) this Sketch & Colour Me {Fabulous}

I made a card for the current CASE this Sketch and the current Colour Me Challenge. The colours over at Colour Me were "Fall" like and that is one of my favourite times of year. I got out my current favourite set...Stippled Blossoms and a pretty sentiment stamp from Stampin' Up as well. The sketch is what got my creative juices flowing...loved the layout...it was truly inspiring!

The flowers are stamped in Crushed Curry and then two step stamped with the Cajun Craze. The sentiment is my neutral choice...of Early Espresso. The french script is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and I have added some small green leaved in Wild Wasabi Green.

Seize the Sketch #21 {Thank You}

The time has come for a brand new sketch over at Seize the Sketch! This challenge we have a sketch from Lori Turner! I absolutely love the simplicity of her sketch! It allowed me to get inky and to have some fun!

I inked up some of my favourite Stampin' Up stamps...Stippled Blooms and Perfectly Penned. I used the butterfly punches to add some dimension to my card and a small tag was created with the tag punch. I used an "all white" base...and embossed it with the diagonal embossing folder from Stampin' Up. Really simple and easy to create.

I hope you will come and play along with us as Seize the Sketch!

The Challenge #7-Reminder

Welcome to Broni who won the last sketch at The Challenge! I asked her to share a card she created for the current challenge and I just LOVE how beautiful it is! Wow, gorgeous colours!

I also created another card for the challenge, using some Christmas stamps from Stampin' Up...love these snowflakes! I stamped them in Bermuda Bay and Primrose Petals ink. The sentiment comes from a set designed by Technique Tuesday. I stamped the sentiment in light stone gray.

Be sure to play along and to link up your card before Sunday, June 1st at Noon (PST).

Merry Monday & Freshly Made Sketches {Joyous Season}

Happy Saturday! The day has ZOOMED by as Saturdays usually do! I have been a good girl; laundry is washed and folded, dinner is cooking in the crockpot and my kitchen is gleaming. So I came downstairs to make a card.

There are two challenges I have been excited to play along with all week! One is Freshly Made Sketches using a fantastic sketch by my pal, Jen Mitchell and the other is a floral challenge over at Merry Monday by my other crafty pal, Bonnie Klass.

I made a clean and simple card using the Hardwood background stamp from SU! and a sentiment stamp from My Favorite Things. I think it is my favourite Christmas sentiment stamp set! I mixed this with some stitched ribbon in my stash and a button...all very simple to put together and now I have another Christmas card for my stash! Hope you are crafting today!

CASology {Thinking of You}

Boy, it has been a stressful week. I won't get into it too much but I am a teacher and at this time of year job postings come out. I have my dream job at my dream school...I love it there. I have 10 years of seniority and was finally feeling secure. Unfortunately, the decision was made to close our school and so I have been without a job for next year and waiting to hear about one. Yep...stressful.

Well today I heard...

And next year I am teaching full-time Grade 1 at a school not far from my home. Not my #1 choice...but a close 2nd and for that I am grateful. Truly.

Now onto my card! Today I am playing with those lovely ladies over at CASOLOGY and their current challenge is to create a clean and simple card using flowers. This was super easy to whip up and it was nice to create a single layer card front...I did fussy cut the flowers and pop them up for some dimension. Also rounded the bottom right corner for some "pizzazz"! This is a Stampin' Up set that is retiring...but I will never part with it...it is a FAVOURITE of mine.

A clean and simple card...and an bit of stress free fun...

Cure for the Monday Blues & Viva la Verve {Thinking of You}

I had the chance to get inky today and I decided to play along with Viva la Verve Sketches! I inked up some wildflower images in Baked Brown Sugar and then stamped them onto some pattern paper. I used some washi tape to hold down the middle square as suggested and used the "skewed" piece as a corrugated piece...created with my crimper. The butterflies were created with three layers...one layer of pattern paper, one layer of vellum and a smaller vellum butterfly. The vellum has a pink sheen on it.

I was also inspired by Taheerah Atchia and her challenge called "Cure for the Monday Blues". This challenge photo gave me the jumping off point for my colour choices...a neutral base with some notebook paper...to go with the desk and some washi...which is piled up on one corner. I also loved the clear vellum paper in the photo that the orange wording is on...which was the inspired for my butterflies.

{Supplies Used}
Stamps: My Favorite Things (Wildflowers)
Inks: Baked Brown Sugar, Black
Papers: MME, Kraft
Extras: Recollections Washi Tape, SU! Butterfly Punches, Pearls, Crimper

The Challenge #7 {Watercoloured Thank You}

Here are the Sketch Measurements:
Card Base- 4" x 5.5"
White Panel- 3.5" x 5.5"

Happy Monday! This week, for Sketch #7, I am leaving the layers behind and tackling watercolouring...for my mom! Yep, she told me yesterday that she wished I would make some watercoloured type of cards...so I went to work with my Tim Holtz distress inks and some pretty new stamps from My Favorite Things. I inked up each stamped image with layers of colour...so they would bleed into eachother. I am so happy with how it turned out.

{Supplies Used}
Stamps: My Favorite Things (Wildflowers)
Inks: Tim Holtz
Papers: SU! Rich Razzleberry, White
Extras: NONE

I went through about 9 pieces of paper...NINE, before I got the combo of ink and stamped images I wanted...such a waste (don't worry I recycled).

Say Watt? card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things

I also asked my pal, Lori Tecler to join me this week and to design something with the sketch! Love her "brilliant" card- isn't it adorable!

The Winners of The Challenge #6

Here are the winners for The Challenge #6...remember, the main winner is invited to be my guest designer...if he or she would like to join me.

As I mentioned before, it is really "challenging" for me to choose winners...I adore everyone's card and I know that each card is created from the heart! But I know as a card maker, I love the thrill of being highlighted at a challenge...and so I have chosen One Main "Winner" and a Top 3. I have also explained why I have chosen these cards.

My main Winner this week is:

05-09-14 ADFD Mother Love

Broni blew me away with her intricate fussy cutting and pretty colouring. This soft and magical card made me smile as soon as I saw it! The shimmer on the heart and on the star is lovely. All around, this is one special creation! Congratulations, Broni.

Broni, if you would like to join me as a Guest Designer for the next challenge, please email me by clicking the MAIL icon in the top right hand corner of my blog banner. It looks like a little envelope!

My Top 3 picks are (in alphabetical order):

CASE this Sketch & CASE Study {Hello, Hello, Hello}

Hooray! Long weekend. I need it. I am sure we all do!

Today I am sharing a card I made for CASE this Sketch & CASE Study. I loved all the white and the bold pop of colour on Wida's card. I wish I had a word die but alas, not yet. I am saving up for some new goodies. Soon I hope! So to achieve the texture of her card, I used my favourite handwriting embossing folder and a lacy oval die from My Favorite Things. I repeated the handwritten sentiment three times and inked up the silhouette stamps with my Tim Holtz inks.

I hope you get the chance to get crafty this weekend. I am hoping to play in my craftroom for at least one of the days.

Runway Inspired Challenge {Hello}

I have been eyeing up the Runway Inspired Challenge for a week or so and I really wanted to play along. I love the inspiration photo! This is my first time playing along with this challenge. Oh my word...what a fun idea! Love the gorgeous colours, the texture and the design of the dress. I also rounded the bottom right corner of my card...to mimic the sweeps and rounded sections of the dress. Boy! Wish I could wear something this cool!

I used this flower from my stash as I think the scallops and texture of it worked with the design of the dress. I also loved the "snips" of black...and tried to add some black with sentiment and the foliage. I got out some satin ribbon and used it to mimic the belt...and I went with an ivory base rather than white because of the model's hair and the flooring.

I hope I played along correctly. I had a lot of fun! I will be back to this cool challenge. Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting me today. I appreciate your supportive comments.
